Alfred Charles Weber is one of the most esteemed French exponents of the Cardinal School of Painters. Educated to the highest standards of the Belle Époque period, Weber adhered to the figurative tradition. Like his contemporaries Brunery, Landini, Vibert and Marias-Milton, Weber gained recognition for his meticulously finished interiors, often portraying Catholic Church dignitaries in humorous activities. These works became highly fashionable among collectors, particularly in America, where many of his works found a home and remain highly sought after today.
